Abstract

A revival of statewide long-range transportation planning is emerging from recent legislation in the United States with focus and heavy emphasis on public involvement and performance based planning. However, differences among states exist in the procedures followed in long range planning, and as new methods are created and reported, better statewide planning approaches are emerging. An example of a new method, the Pennsylvania Statewide Long Range Transportation Plan (PennPlan), is provided in this paper.
