Abstract

Submerged breakwaters are important coastal structures that protect seashore from waves. The transmission coefficient increases at high tide in large tidal zones. This paper discusses the submerged breakwaters with the armor blocks. Various model tests were carried out to investigate the regular wave transmissions. The tests revealed several fundamental principles about the wave transmission of the reef-type breakwaters. For the case the reef crest width to be large, the wave dissipation can be expected for the wide range of the relative crest depth because of the function of the wave breaking on the crest. When the water depth is large over the submerged breakwater, effective armor blocks are developed. 1 Introduction The submerged breakwater is effective for pr
