Abstract

Modeling of groundwater flow and contaminant transport using dual reciprocity BEM V. Popov, C A Brebbia Wessex Institute of Technology, UK Abstract With an aim to identify the possible pollution sources of groundwater in south- eastern locality of Skopje (for more details see Anovski et al. [1]), besides hydro- geological and isotope-chemical investigations, lab tracer experiments supported by adequate mathematical and numerical models, simulating in that way the actual site conditions, have been applied. The numerical modelling included solution of the steady-state groundwater flow and the transient advection-diffusion equation. hi both cases dual reciprocity boundary element method (DR-BEM) has been used in combination with multi-sub-domain technique. On the basis of the performed investigations, a model for prediction of ground water flow and transport of pollutants, with and without pumping out of groundwater, has been obtained.
