Abstract

Receptor modeling techniques are reviewed and applied to analyse the data on 20 volatile hydrocarbons (Ce-C^) obtained from three sites during a monitoring campaign in the city of Leeds, U.K. Strong temporal varia- tions in ambient concentrations are observed, but the spectrum of species measured is more stable and agrees roughly with total speciated emissions inventory for the U.K.. Chemical Mass Balance and Factor Analysis were applied in order to identify the major sources responsible for the species detected. As expected the main contribution comes from petrol exhaust and evaporation, and from solvents. 1 Introduction Volatile organic compounds (VOC) are important pollutants of an urban atmosphere.
