Abstract

Fluxes of air pollutants from local to continental scale simulated with the EURAD model H. Feldmann, H. Hass, H.J. Jakobs, A. Ebel Institute for Geophysics and Meteorology, EURAD-Project, University of Cologne, Germany ABSTRACT The regional model EURAD has been applied to a SANA special obser- vation period in October 1990. A multiple nesting version of the model has been used to increase the spatial resolution over the area of the former GDR. Fluxes of sulfur between emission and receptor areas have been calcu- lated. Additionally predicted Sulfur concentrations are compared to surface measurements. INTRODUCTION This paper describes characteristics of the air pollution situation for a SANA special observation period. The air quality modeling system to simulate this episode with EURAD, which is a 3-dimensional, Eulerian limited area model, will be presented. The model is designed to calculate transport, transformation and deposition of trace gases in the atmosphere for ep
