Abstract

One of the major obstacles encountered when analyzing sustained growth is that of reconciling the spatial impact of economic growth with the rational planning of land related to industrial location processes. The methodology adopted in this paper comprises a critical valuation of the persistently recommended sector diversification policies used as a tool in land planning due to the lack of conclusive evidence on the existence of different externalities. The consolidation of industrial nodes often generates conflicts between land planning guidelines and the interests inherent to industrial location.
