Abstract

Response of corrugated steel walls due to pressure loads K.A. Malo & H. Ilstad Department of Structural Engineering, The Norwegian Institute of Technology, N-7034 Trondheim, Norway ABSTRACT Recent work on response of corrugated steel walls subjected to uniform pressure loads is described. Tests are conducted on open corrugated steel panels using a water pressure test facility. Results are compared to numerical simulations in the quasi-static and dynamic domain. Some parametric studies are performed on the numerical models. INTRODUCTION A large pressure testing facility has recently been constructed at the Norwegian Institute of Technology (NTH). The test facility was designed to impose uniform pressure loading in a repeatable controlled manner. Tests have been performed on corrugated open panels, panels closed by longitudinal stiffeners, and sandwich blast wall elements. All panels were made out of high-strength stainless steel. In addition a preliminary test on a damaged c
