Abstract

Vehicular traffic represents one of the most important sources of noise and environmental pollution in urban centres. The concentration values of main atmospheric pollutants (COx, NOx, SOx, O3, HC, PM) strongly depend on atmospheric conditions and traffic flow features (composition, mean speed, utilized fuels, driving conduct, etc). This information about traffic, except engine data, can be obtained from acoustical data, by considering the time behaviour of Leq and a suitable set of statistical noise levels Ln (as defined in ISO 1996).
