Abstract

There is growing interest in western countries in the design of road public transport vehicles as a means of attracting and retaining passengers and improving the image of, in particular, the bus. This paper will review the available evidence that improved vehicle design can have this effect on bus use, before considering the technological feasibility of a specific innovation in vehicle propulsion.
