Abstract

Delivering scheduling solutions for a changing business world J.R. Hammerton TWlfd, The business analysis and design philosophy behind Comreco Rail Ltd's new generation of rail network scheduling and access planning systems is discussed. The changing business environment in the United Kingdom and in other countries has demanded that new software solutions are generated. These reflect the refraction of the industry into many independent and smaller units, and the need to trade formally between them. Focus is placed on the scheduling relationship which needs to be managed between, for example, Railtrack as a unifying track authority, and the requirements of over thirty train operating companies.
