Abstract

In order to investigate the mechanism of beach erosion during a storm, weekly field measurement of the shoreline has been made on Sendai Coast in Japan. Aerial photographs have also been taken every month from 1988 to compensate the field observations. 1. Introduction The shoreline of Sendai Coast is recessing year by year and it is therefore said that a countermeasure against the beach erosion should be worked out in the very near future ( Uda, Omata and Minematsu [1] ). In the present study, short-term shoreline change of the northern part of Sendai Cast is investigated through field observations along with an analysis of aerial photographs.
