Abstract

Porous flow in granular media has been studied based on Sollitt & Cross ^ theoretical model. Experiments are to evaluate the validity of the theory are presented. Furthermore, the theory is extended to analyze the wave envelope seawards of a porous structure. 1 Introduction The study of flow in coarse granular material plays an important role in the for- mulation of numerical models to evaluate wave interaction with rubble-mound breakwaters. An exact solution of the problem at the highly irregular micro- scopic level defined by the voids between the solid particles would require com- plicated time-consuming numerical procedures. Therefore, the problem has been approached
