Abstract

At the last Boundary Element Method Conference, BEM XXI, an adaptive mesh refinement technique of type h was presented by the authors^. The technique compares values of the field variables at successive iterations to evaluate error indicators using ad hoc uniform norms. In this article we extend the technique to the Dual Reciprocity Method in order to apply it to 2D potential problems governed by the Poisson equation. Three case studies are presented for boundary value problems of the Dirichlet type in bounded domains. 1 Introduction The accuracy of the boundary element method (BEM) is strongly influenced by the mesh discretization configuration. To improve the exactness of the numerical solution several mesh r
