Abstract

A method based on a Lagrangian formulation is presented in this paper for the analysis of aerodynamic problems involving solid boundaries of unspecified geometry. This formulation uses stream-function and Lagrangian-distance coordinates for the transformed computational domain. The resulting discretized Euler equations are solved by calculating the fluxes using a procedure based on the Riemann problem solution, similar to that used in the Godunov method. Special numerical treatment is developed for the boundary conditions on the geometrically-unspecified solid boundaries. The method is validated for the supersonic flows in a circular-arc-bump nozzle and past an aerofoil at incidence. The solutions for the flow problems of u
