Abstract

Software quality management in SE Asia M.G. Jenner EXECOM Group f (%/ IW, ^0 Murm?/ 5Y, INTRODUCTION This paper examines the status of software quality management in South East Asia and some of the issues affecting its adoption and acceptance. The region includes Australia, New Zealand and the Asean nations of Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand. Australia has a certificatable software quality management standard (AS 3563) which is a derivative of the NATO AQAP 13 standard revised and restructured to map onto ISO 9001. The AS 3563 standard was promoted as a possible ISO standard but was rejected as ISO did not want a proliferation of industry specific standards, It was, however, adopted by the IEEE as IEEE 1298 and forms part of their Software Engineering Standards.
