Abstract

This article aims to develop a method for instrumental measurements of properties of the field of stress fluctuations in thin elastic plates. The method proposed is based on the method for residual stress measurements that was originally developed in 1934 by Mathar, [1]. The main modification proposed in this study includes sophisticated interpretation technique that is based on the consideration of an ill-posed problem for the determination of the coefficients in power series of complex potentials form the data of displacement measurements. Numerical experiments are conducted to investigate the accuracy in recovering the characteristics of stress fluctuations. For this purpose synthetic data is generated as a sum of given displacements and randomly generated noise at every reference point. Statistical analysis of nume
