Abstract

Creation of laminated plates with prescribed properties by inverse method M. Autio Department of Mechanical Engineering, University * ABSTRACT A design task of creating composite plates with prescribed thermomechanical properties is investigated. A minimization algorithm suitable for solving nonlinear constrained problems is applied in the solution. Mechanical properties, like natural frequencies, buckling loads and deflections of a plate, are calculated by using Ritz method. The influence of the choice of different interpolation functions of deflection w for clamped plates is considered. INTRODUCTION The use of composite materials provides many possibilities to tailor the structures according to the needs. On the contrary to the structures made of isotropic materials, whose thermomechanical properties are fully determined by the selection of the material and geometry, the thermomechanical properties of the structures made of layered orthot
