Abstract

Qualitative comparison of numerical methods for identifying dynamic models of circuits and systems B. Bak-Jensen, J. Bak-Jensen, S.D. Mikkelsen, J. Tolstrup S0rensen Institute of Energy Technology, Aalborg University, DK-9220 Aalborg East, Denmark ABSTRACT A dynamic model of different circuits and systems can be determined in many ways depending on the purpose of the model and the requirements to the model. In this paper a frequency domain model (impedance spectrum) of an electric component is determined by three different procedures - Frequency sweep analysis, Fast Fourier Transformation (FFT) analysis, and parametric identification by the Least Squares Method. The three methods are compared with regard to computation speed, noise sensitivity, model performance, and stability in determination of the impedance spectra for a potential transformer and a zinc oxide (ZnO) varistor. It is concluded that the performance of the three methods depends on the dynamic range
