Abstract

The strip yield crack closure model has been extended for the fatigue crack growth in the residual stress field for the part through cracks. The analysis of residual stress includes not only the initial stress, but also its relaxation due to the crack growth and the fatigue load The investigation shows that it is possible that the fatigue crack growth in the residual stress field can be reasonably analysed based on the elastic-plastic fracture mechanics method 1 Introduction The fatigue crack growth analysis is essential to guarantee a reliable welded joint design during its service life.
