Abstract

Local air quality management (LAQM) is the means by which local government is dealing with local air pollution problems in Great Britain. The key element in the LAQM regime, according to the Environment Act 1995, is a review and assessment process of air quality in the local authority’s area of jurisdiction. In 2003 the Government and the Devolved Administrations suggested a new two steps prescriptive approach to air quality review and assessment substituting a three steps approach used in 1999-2001.
