Abstract

Animals use sound and vibration for various purposes, including attraction, hunting and breeding. In nature, the use of sound may become a life or death question (in prey hunting for example). Sound in nature stimulates bio-mimics ideas for radar and sonar systems design, robotics and electro acoustic technologies (e.g. three-dimensional direction location detection of signals from noise and other applications). This paper brings such examples that in many cases are superior to existing technologies. Being interdisciplinary, acoustic biomimics necessitates, for its further development, basic knowledge in physics, biology, theoretical acoustics, electro acoustics, control engineering and electrical engineering to help solve or study the problems of specified characteristics as explained in the text. 1 Introduction Evolution developed in nature a variety of surviva
