Abstract

In this paper, I focus attention on one of the most important problems in both industrialised countries and emerging ones: the problems of the polluted soils and of their remediation. In particular, I describe the contribution that a microbesbased approach to the soil remediation can give to the sustainable development the countries. In the general framework of the sustainable development, I will also analyse some development trends that can be applied in an integrated way with the bioremediation methodologies, in order to reduce "ab initio" the impact on the environmental compartments and the subsequent remediation costs too. In fact, we do believe that only an integrated approach to the environmental protection and prevention can lead to a sustainable development of the industrialised and emerging countries.
