Abstract

Abstract During the two last decades, the different methods of Artificial Intelligence, especially expert systems, have increasingly been in use. Expert system as a branch of artificial intelligence having high capabilities is used in wastewater treatment plant operation. A knowledge-base expert system called ASPOEX (Activated Sludge Process Operation Expert System) is developed to assist operation in diagnostic and remedy in wastewater treatment using the activated sludge operation.
