Abstract

Computer-aided environment for system design of mass burn waterwall incinerators N.-B. Chang & Y.C. Fang o/ ABSTRACT The technology of mass burn waterwall incineration were widely used m the past two decades for solving the problems of municipal solid waste management. Since the design conditions are intimately linked with waste composition, heating values and several process parameters, system design process could become iterative and time consuming. An integrated simulation model and its knowledge-based computer software were therefore developed to provide a prototype computer-based environment for aiding in the system design of mass burn waterwall incinerators. This software can establish the basic design of storage pit, furnace and grate, combustion and emission control, ash management, energy recovery subsystems, and etc using both semi-empirical and theoretical formulations. The design environment includes fundamental data manipul
