Abstract

This work is devoted to problems of color in contemporary townscape. The methodology of analysis of urban polychrome including the research of the natural environment, the historical colors and the contemporary ones is developed. During this research the three principal aspects of polychrome, namely, palette, structure and dynamic of the colorscape, connected with different elements of urban and natural landscape, have been considered. The developed methodology has been applied to the investigation of color distribution, preferences and time color variations in the central historical part of Pelotas city (Brazil).
