Abstract

A comprehensive air quality modelling system was developed for Hong Kong. This system is validated and pre-loaded with ten meteorological scenarios which, when given the proper weightings, will be able to simulate air quality on different time scales. Aircraft measurements were used for validating some of the scenarios. This paper describes one such validation scenario. 1. Introduction The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HK) of China occupies an area of approximately 50km (N-S) by 60km (E-W) on the south-eastern coast of the Asian mainland. The land area of slightly over lOOOknf is made up of two main islands and one rhombus shape piece of land that adjoins the mainland of China. This is surrounded by open waters on three sides.
