Abstract

A Rosenbrock-Solver in Chemistry-Transport Modelling: What about its Speed in 3-D? A contribution to subproject CMD Ch. Kessler\ A. Griesel* and J. Verwer^ We honour the first instance of Questions and Answers at EUROTRAC some years ago and the many instances of FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) on the Net. It seems that such a way of presenting might be suited to an environment, where information overload is more than a scenario. Why do we need yet another solution algorithm? For more than twenty years reliable algorithms have existed for solving stiff ODEs which arise in air pollution modelling. However, research has given us new ways of improving the performance of well-known methods. Especially the availability of meta-tools. make the tedious compilation of equations for programming languages, and gives us the possibility to use rather freakish things, such as rearranging Jacobians for best sparsity - things which take a long t
