Abstract

Pro-WELLS is presented as an efficient numerical tool designed for the protection and the management of drinking water supply wells. It permits the determination of the second and third perimeters around pumping wells by the prediction of different overexploitation or contamination risks. The groundwater flow and contaminant transport simulations are performed using advanced hydrogeological, mathematical and numerical modelings. High accurate solutions are ensured by the implementation of (mixed) finite volume element discretisations.
