Abstract

The Great Man-made River Project (GMRP), currently under construction in Libya, can be considered as one of the largest water schemes in the world. The main operational objectives of the Great Man-made River scheme are to supply water to consumers as safely, securely and economically as possible. The purpose of this paper is to outline a general approach to achieving these objectives for the Great Man-made River Project in Libya. This involves investigating the available modern techniques and assessing their application for the GMRP scheme in order to propose an Integrated Water Management system to act as a Decision Support system.
