Abstract

Mathematical model of eutrophication in Castellon coast (Spain) M. Martm, J. Ferrer Department of Hydraulic Engineering and Environment, Polytechnial University of Valencia, Valencia, Spain ABSTRACT As a solution to the removal of urban waste waters, direct input into the sea through ocean outfalls have been used since longtime ago. This urban sewage must be treated before it would be released. Depending of this, the sea receive some quantity of nutrients. This nutrients can produce undesirable increases on phytoplancton comunities, given rise to eutrophication processes. Owing to the economic consequences (on the tourism and fishery) and social of environmental problems, the local administration decided to carry out a study of disposal alternatives in the Castellon coast. This study must analyze the real status of marine ecosystem; to estimate the damage level and it retrie- val; and to choose the best treatment/loading system for this urban waste waters.
