Monitoring discharges for performance and compliance B.B. Baykal, S. Sozen ABSTRACT Assessment of the level of performance and compliance is based on monitoring of discharges. Statistical evaluation of the monitoring data to account for the impact of sampling frequency.and laws of chance play a crucial role in the stage of decision making. Suggestions to accomplish statistical evaluations for fair decisions are outlined and a case study of compliance in a pharmaceutical industry is presented. INTRODUCTION Collection, treatment and final disposal of wastewaters play a crucial role in water pollution and protection of water quality. However, without proper monitoring and control, water quality management cannot be complete.
