Abstract

In Bavaria there exist three sites where nuclear power plants have been installed, all of these are situated at rivers in mountainous terrain. The meteorological conditions in these areas are strongly effected by topographic features. For monitoring these plants by the Bavarian State Ministry of Environmental Affairs and Land Planning, a Lagrangian dispersion model in connection with a windfield model has been installed on an offline basis. Validation computations with respect to experiments in complex terrain and various meteorological conditions have been performed and show its advantages with respect to the Gaussian model according i.e. German regulatory guiding rules. The effective dose as well as the thyr
