Abstract

Italian power plants scenario is about to change because of the possible introduction of new small-sized mixed-fuel plants to be scattered around the territory. In order to evaluate the increased pollution risk connected with these new plants, the present work analyzes the effects of geographical driving forces of a particular environment, the Adriatic-sea coast, characterised by a series of valleys facing the sea. As a first step the analysis has been carried out by searching the steady state solution for a multiple valley system under sea- and river-breeze conditions. To perform this analysis the software STAR for thermofluids modelling has been employed. Afterwards the flow field elements have been tracked to show if a pollutant can migrate from one valley to the adjacent ones. 1 Intro
