Abstract

In this paper, computational examples for analysing the flow and pollutant transport in two estuaries have been briefly presented. In the first example, the impact analysis of seven pollutant sources discharging into a local region of the south estuary of the Yangtze River (China), 19.6km long and 4.2km wide, was numerically simulated and predicted over a full tidal cycle by using an unsteady depth-averaged two-dimensional finite volume approach (FVA). In the second example, a nested two- and three-dimensional model was adopted to numerically simulate the complex current patterns in the Hangzhou Bay (China) which is the classical horn-type e
