Abstract

An atmospheric environmental expert system has been designed to favour decision making during the operation of a power plant with the goal of minimizing atmospheric air pollution. The system receives quasi-real time meteorological and emission data which is used to compute a three dimensional windfield and the corresponding pollution concentration field. The numerical simulation results are treated in a GIS to provide hourly air pollution information of the source contribution to the air quality deterioration of the selected area of study. System characteristics and operation together with experimental results obtained during a set-up case are presented. 1. Introduction The improvement of computers and advances in environmental research and automatic data aquisition have favored the
