Abstract

Tests of Heterogeneous Processes in the London Plume A contribution to subproject SATURN Yvonne Andersson-Skold* and Johanna Altenstedt^ ^Melica Environmental Consultants, Fjdllgatan 3 E, S-413 17 Goteborg, Sweden ^ Swedish Environmental Research Institute (IVL), Sweden Introduction It is well known that deposition and heterogeneous processes influence the oxidation processes in the atmosphere and vice versa. The IVL photochemical trajectory model (e.g. Andersson-Skold, 1995, Janhall et al., 1995) has been used for a preliminary investigation of deposition and some heterogeneous reactions. Simulations have been conducted for the London plume (Derwent, 1990, Altenstedt and Andersson-Skold, 1996; Andersson-Skold and Simpson, 1997) and the concentrations of ozone and NOy species have been calculated. Empirical data have been used to simulate the heterogeneous formation of HONO and HNO]. The IVL photoch
