Utilizing CMM measurements in the evaluation
of machine tool accuracy
Author(s): J. Holsa
Abstract:
This paper presents the theoretical background of a new feature based analysis of co-ordinate
measuring machine (CMM) measurements.
The same analysis method can be used also to
analyse double ball bar (DBB) and cross-grid encoder measurements.
In this method test
pieces or ordinary workpieces are measured in a CMM and the analysis method is applied to
reveal individual deviations in a machine tool.
This way it is possible to have a systematic and
continuous follow-up of machine tool capability based on deviations.
1 Introduction:
The new method for CMM (co-ordinate measuring machine) measurement
analysis introduced in this paper endeavours to integrate test piece and direct
machine tool measurements.
The accuracy of a machine tool can be inspected
either by making a direct measure...
