Abstract

The European Train Control System (ETCS) is in development. Based on its specification in natural language a formal Petri net model has been established using the tool Design/CPN by order of the Deutsche Bahn AG. Thus, an industrial scale example exists to investigate the impact of formal models on the product life cycle.
