Abstract

In Nigeria, there has been in recent times, a growing need to effectively manage the pollution stemming from biomedical waste disposal by hospital incinerators. This is not unconnected with the enormous quantities of the biomedical wastes being churned out haphazardly to the environment coupled with the increasing awareness of the Nigerian populace to health-care delivery. The case-study is the incinerator being currently used in Nigeria's oldest Teaching Hospital - University College Hospital (UCH) located at Ibadan, Oyo State.
