Abstract

On the two-grid approximate approach for constructing sparse boundary systems for elasticity and heat conduction problems V. Bulgakov* Lehrstuhl fur Technische Mechanik, Universitdt Erlangen-Niirnberg, Federal Republic of Germany * On leave from Department of Applied Mathematics, Moscow Civil Engineering Institute, Moscow, Russia ABSTRACT The technique aimed to constructing approximate sparse boundary sy- stems of equations in substructure approaches is developed. In many cases it can provide a significant reduction of computational work in procedures of obtaining and solving boundary systems of equations. The technique is based on the use of an auxiliary coarse grid division over the boundary. For theoretical study a boundary integral formulation of the model problem has been employed to provide a simple estimate of the condensed matrix coefficients performance. Using this estimate a numerical investigation of the method was carried out. INTRODUCTION This pa
