Abstract

Application of boundary element method to viscoelastic problems S.S. Lee*, R.A. The integral equations in space and time are derived for linear viscoelastic materials. The discretization is presented by using time elements and boundary elements. A modified Simpson's rule with respect to time is employed to achieve an accurate and efficient integration scheme. Based on the formulation presented, a new two-dimensional BEM computer program and a new three-dimensional BEM computer program have been developed. Numerical results of example problems illustrate the accuracy of these codes. INTRODUCTION Applications of the boundary element method to viscoelastic problems have been in
