Box 1415, Nicosia, Cyprus ABSTRACT This paper presents a recently developed computer model which can simulate the fire spread in the ecosystems.

The computer model is the result of the coupling of two numerical methods for the simulation of the flow field and the combustion process at the fire front.

The model is applied to predict the propagation of the fire front of an actual well documented fire in Cyprus.

The predictions of the speed and the direction of the actual fire gave promising results, verifying that a mathematical tool is available for the accurate prediction of the fire evolution in real time.
