Vo-Ngoc School of Engineering, Universite de Moncton, EM ABSTRACT The problem of the laminar incompressible flow and heat transfer inside an enclosure with swirling axial throughflow has been numerically investigated.

In general, the flow and thermal field are very complex under the combined effects of the rotation and the throughflow rates.

The heat transfer increases considerably with the rotational Reynolds number, except for low throughflow rate where adverse effects may be encountered.

INTRODUCTION Fluid flow and heat transfer within an enclosure with one or more rotating walls and forced coolant throughflow are encountered in many engineering applications such as in gas turbines, pumps and other rotating devices.

Because of a broad range in sizes, geometries and operating conditions, it is necessary to seek analytical / numerical...
