Abstract:
A software package has been developed to predict the ground level
concentration, glc, of pollutants in areas close to industrial sites.
The area
under consideration is characterized by steep hills and sea inlets surrounded by
cliffs, consequently affecting significantly the wind direction and, therefore the
plume transport and pollutants' glc.
The model performs a 24-hour prediction
of the plume transport based on a discrete Gaussian distribution model
(adaptive plume model) and a meteorological prediction model.
The package is running, on a trial basis, at a Power Plant.
The relative
quantities of local high sulphur brown coal and imported low sulphur
sub-bituminous coal to be burned in the units, wil...
