Abstract

Invited paper Practical aspects of developing heat radiation BEM code R.A. Bialecki" & L. GreW " Institute of Thermal Technology, Technical University of Silesia, 44-101 Gliwice, Konarskiego & JLozza&o Power Wyzwolenia 30, Poland ABSTRACT Practical problems arising when writing a radiation BEM code are ad- dressed. The physical problems covered encompass 3D radiation in en- closures and cavities open to environment. Medium filling the enclosure is transparent, walls are diffuse, gray emitters and reflectors. Specific prob- lems arising in heat radiation: treatment of corner nodes and black surfaces are described. Option of direct coupling of heat radiation and conduction is also discussed. Special attention is paid to point out the difference between standard potential BEM code and a radiation one. It is shown that the majority of standard BEM routines can be used without any modifications. Of practical importance is that the data needed to run the heat radiation
