Abstract

Dynamic cross-interaction of rigid foundations to obliquely incident SH seismic waves J. Qian" & D.E. BesW , f .^. of C^2/ Engmeermp, ^^er^zti/ of , Greece ABSTRACT The three-dimensional dynamic cross-interaction of rigid mass- less surface foundations laying on a homogeneous and isotropic half-space and being subjected to obliquely incident SH seismic waves is studied using the direct boundary element method The half-space Green's function for surface points in the frequency domain is used so that all discretization for numerical purposes is confined to the soil-foundation contact regions only. Quadratic quadrilateral isoparametric elements are adopted in this study for increased accuracy and easy simulation of complex foundation shapes. Parametric studies are conducted to assess the effects of the existence of the adjacent foundation on the input motions for SH seismic waves with variou
