Abstract

A thin elastic plate, extended by an infinite perfectly rigid baffle, is con- sidered. The half-space located on one side of this plane surface contains a fluid. In the other half-space, there is a cavity, partly bounded by the plate, which contains the same fluid. The plate is excited by the wall pressure due to a time and space random process (as, for example, a turbulent boundary layer). It is shown that the knowledge of the response of this system to a point force applied to the plate (Green's function of the fluid-loaded plate and the corresponding acoustic pressures) and of the cross power density spectrum field of the excitation are sufficient to describe the behaviour of the system under the random excitation. A boundary element method is used to determine the Green's fun
